White Sandwich Bread

Here’s the perfect white bread recipe for the people who love homemade bread.
Yield 1 (9×5-inch) loaf
Ingredients
- 3 cups bread flour, divided
- 1 (0.25oz) package (7g) or 2 1/4 teaspoons Red Star Active Dry Yeast
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon fine salt
- 1 cup water (120-130°F)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
Instructions
- In stand mixer bowl, add 1 cup flour, yeast, sugar and salt; mix well. Add warm water and oil to flour mixture. Using a paddle attachment, beat on medium speed for 4 minutes.
- Switch to dough hook attachment. Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a firm dough. Knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 to 7 minutes.(NOTE: For hand mixing: following above steps, mix ingredients in large mixing bowl using a wooden spoon or dough whisk. Knead on floured surface until smooth and elastic.)
- Place dough in lightly oiled bowl and turn to grease top. Cover; let rise until indentation remains after poking dough with finger down to second knuckle, about 60 minutes.
- Prepare pan: Grease one 9×5-inch bread pan; set aside.
- Turn dough onto lightly floured surface; punch down to remove air bubbles. Roll or pat into a 14×7-inch rectangle. Starting with shorter side, roll up tightly, pressing dough into roll. Pinch edges and taper ends to seal. Place in prepared pan. Cover; let rise until indentation remains after touching.
- Preheat oven to 375°F.

THANK YOU for this recipe! I was looking for a vegan-friendly white bread for my new machine. The book that came with my machine had a recipe that I tried twice and failed. This one worked the first time and looks and tastes great! I wish I could upload a photo!

Spectacular recipe! Comes out perfect every time in my redstar bread maker. This recipe also uses very few ingredients all of which I always have on hand in my cupboard. I use all purpose white flour and Olive oil. The result is fluffy light tasty bread that I can use for anything- French toast, sandwiches, BLTs, layering for breakfast casseroles, etc…

I like easy and this recipe is easy! We love homemade bread and usually have little time to mess with it. This is one easy recipe for the busy gal. I used the fast rising yeast also.
