Ingredients

  • 4 to 6 pounds country-style ribs or spareribs
  • 2 teaspoons fine salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 3 tablespoons corn starch
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup Vintage Fruit Syrup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 cup Vintage Fruit (drained)
  • 1 small onion (sliced)
  • Cooked rice

Instructions

  • Sprinkle ribs with salt and pepper; wrap tightly in heavy foil packets, sealing well. Place on cookie sheets. Bake at 350°F for 1 hour.
  • In medium saucepan, combine brown sugar, cornstarch, ginger and garlic powder; gradually add water, stirring until smooth. Add Vintage Fruit Syrup, vinegar and soy sauce. Cook over medium heat until thickened, stirring constantly. Add drained Vintage Fruit; remove from heat. Place ribs in shallow baking dish; top with onion slices. Spoon sauce over ribs. Bake uncovered until tender, about 1 1/2 hours. Serve over rice.
