When the US Army gave us a call, we rose to the challenge. ☎️🫡Today we observe Memorial Day. 🇺🇸What does active dry yeast have to do with World War II? 🤔🥼 Active dry yeast was developed in the early 1940’s as a less perishable product to fresh yeast. 🪖 Red Star was given an active dry yeast order by the US Army in 1941. ✈️ By the end of the war, we had sent over 5 million pounds overseas for the Army’s mobile kitchens. 🍞 Fresh bread played a very important role, boosting morales of the troops.We want to take a moment to thank and honor all our veterans, past and present, who have served our country. ❤️#coolhistory #fermentation #memorialday #breadbaking #breadmaking
