No Knead Savory Cheese Dinner Rolls
Easy no-knead savory cheesy rolls for your next barbecue.
- 3 cups bread flour
- 2 (0.25oz each) packages (14g) or 4 1/2 teaspoons Red Star Active Dry Yeast
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon instant minced onion
- 1 teaspoon table salt
- 1/2 teaspoon celery seed
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup water
- 2 tablespoons shortening
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup Fontinella or Cheddar cheese
In stand mixer bowl, add 2 cups flour, yeast, sugar, minced onion, salt and celery seed; mix well. In saucepan or microwave-safe dish, heat milk, water and shortening to 120-130°F (shortening does not need to melt). Add to flour mixture. Using a paddle attachment, blend on low speed for 30 seconds. Add egg; beat on medium speed for 3 minutes. Add cheese. Gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a stiff batter.(NOTE: For hand mixing: following above steps, mix ingredients in large mixing bowl using a wooden spoon or dough whisk.) Cover; let rise in warm place until light and doubled, about 30 minutes.
Stir down batter. Spoon into greased muffin cups (or if desired, shape rolls by rolling into ball and then place in muffin cups). Cover; let rise in warm place until light and doubled, about 30 minutes.
Preheat oven to 400°F.
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown. Serve warm.
