  4. Tough to answer. I recently pared down my collection of cookbooks but still have so many. No favorite – I usually just pick one out and start looking through it for inspiration.

  10. Have always relied upon Betty Crocker with its reliable tips and instructions and shortcuts. The older book from the fifties had brief bits of history and some personal touches. The books now have nutrition info and use many of the newer appliances that were not around in the earlier years. It’s a help when my daughter who lives far away needs some advice. The red book was the first cookbook I got for her. Since she has a top of the line stand mixer, I showed her and some of her fiends how to make bread a few years ago.

  11. I have so many favorite cookbooks. Better Homes and Gardens New Cook Book is a favorite go to. If I am in a hurry for yeast items I go to Red Star’s website.

  13. I collect cookbooks. I have several favorites – a church cookbook which has recipes from the community that my Husband grew up in and my original Betty Crocker cookbook.

  18. I don’t really have a favorite cookbook. A lot of my recipes come from family, friends and on-line, even more so since I have to cook gluten free.

  20. My go-to is the Cooks Illustrated Family Cookbook, all the recipes I’ve tried have been great.

  21. My favorite of these 3 would be the Candy one. My favorite cookbook of all time is one I got years ago that was put together by a local women’s group, with recipes from local people.

  22. I rely on my Betty Crocker cookbook alot, but I also like any cookbook that features breads.

  25. betty crocker boys and girls cookbook from 1960’s because it brings back good memories. but i have lots of others i use all the time so its a close call!

  26. My favorite cookbook is Budget Bytes, which is pretty no fail for everyday dishes. Sally’s Baking Addiction is great for all things sweet!

  28. I really love both cookbooks by Martha Hall Foose, Screen Doors and Sweet Tea and A Southernly Course. I have made countless ginger molasses cookies and her buttermilk ice cream recipe won me over (I don’t drink buttermilk), along with so many others. People tell me the ice cream tastes like cheesecake and it really does.

  30. I can’t pick one favorite since I collect cookbooks, but my Southern Living cookbooks are where I start any recipe search.

  31. My favorite cookbook is my moms McCalls cookbook she was given this book on her birthday from my grandma in 1963. I call it the food bible!

  32. I use King Arthur’s Bakers Companion for baking, and Joy of Cooking for general cooking

  34. I use my Good Housekeeping Cookbook a lot but also like my Amish cookbooks.I LOVE TO BAKE BREAD,CINNAMON ROLLS,COOKIES, AND CANDY!

  43. I Love cookbooks!,I lost all my cookbooks in a move across the country, I was lucky to have put 4 of them in another box. Better housekeeping, our county fair cookbook, a betty Crocker cookbook. And a cookies amd candy from the 50’s. I Love all 4 of them, but if I really had 5o choose one, It would be the county fair cookbook, because there are recipes in that book that came from some of my friends and family. ☺🐞

  44. I pull out 2 quite often they were both given to me as wedding gifts at my shower, Betty Crocker and Better Homes and Gardens both from the early 80’s

  45. With at least 1000 cookbooks, it is really hard to have a favorite. How do you decide which one of your ‘kids’ is your favorite?!!!

  46. My favorite cookbook is old and regional. It’s called, “Pots, Pans, and Pioneers.”

  47. I would say Chloe’s Vegan Italian Kitchen is my new favorite cookbook. Lots of solid recipes for my strict vegan husband!

  64. My all-time favorite is still the 1960s Betty Crocker’s New Picture Cookbook. I refer to it every now again for old classic dessert and bread recipes. But I love anything by James Peterson, Mark Bittmann, and King Arthur Flour.

  70. Love all of Sally’s recipes! Favorite cookbooks……Betty Rosbottom’s, she taught a cooking school at the old Lazarus Store in Columbus, OH. I took those classes, bought the coobooks, and I’m still using them today!

  76. My mother made a handwritten book of family favorite recipes for me and it has always been my favorite, especially since she passed away years ago.

  77. I love Sally’s Cookie Addiction. She has made me actually want to try making things with yeast, which is something I have been afraid to try.

  80. I go to Joy of Cooking and to a church cookbook from 1958 that has several recipes my mother contributed. It has her bread recipe that she made every week, no store bought bread at our home

  82. For basics, I have Betty Crocker and Better Homes and Gardens that I bought when first married in 1955. They have been revised over the years, but I still use recipes from these two editions.

    I get all cookbooks that are published from the library. Interesting reading. Some have strange ingredients.

  88. Honestly, I can’t pick a favorite-being an avid cookbook collector and owning over 500-plus of them, any given week my favorite choice changes. I do love the fund raiser cookbooks my daughter and I worked on over the years. They all contain tried and true favorite recipes from friends and family-those books get used over and over again!

  127. I’ve only recently started exploring beyond the family recipe books, but so far my favorite cookbook is Martha Collison’s “Crave”. I love the way it is divided and each of the theme ingredients (Chocolate, Cheese, Alcohol, etc) is explained.

  138. It’s hard to narrow down my favorite cookbook, but I do enjoy one called a Blessing of Bread. I also really like Ratio, which is a little bit less a cookbook, and more an instruction manual.
