Cardamom Cake
Simple and quick to make and so attractive - this delicious coffee cake can be served whenever a good cup of coffee is brewed.

  • ½ cup Water
  • ½ cup Milk
  • ½ cup Butter
  • 4 Eggs, room temperature
  • 4 cup Bread Flour
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ¾ cup Sugar
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp Ground ginger
  • 2 tsp Ground cardamom
  • ¼ tsp Ground cloves
  • 4+1/2 tsp Active Dry Yeast
  • Powdered sugar

  2. Oven 375ºF
  3. In large mixer bowl combine 1+1/2 cups flour, yeast, sugar, cardamom, salt, cinnamon, cloves, and ginger; mix well. Heat water, milk, and butter to 120º to 130ºF; butter does not need to melt. Add to flour mixture; add eggs. Blend at low speed until moistened; beat 3 minutes at medium speed. By hand, gradually stir in enough remaining flour to make a stiff batter.
  4. Spoon batter into well greased 12-cup Bundt® pan. Cover; let rise in warm place until light and double in size, about 1½ hours. Bake at 375ºF for 30 to 35 minutes until golden brown. Remove from pan; cool. Sift powdered sugar over top before serving.
  5. *You can substitute Instant (fast-rising) Yeast in place of Active Dry Yeast in batter/no knead recipes. When using Instant Yeast, expect your batter/dough to rise about 50% faster. Adjust your rise times accordingly. Traditional methods: use equal amounts; Bread Machine: use ½ tsp Instant Yeast OR ¾ tsp Active Dry Yeast per cup of flour in your recipe.
